We are very excited to be the entertainment at the New Orleans Community Arts Awards ceremony this year. The event is next Wednesday, December 2. This performance increases our regular season schedule and it represents an additional step into the community. Hope to see y'all there.
What a fun fall concert full of American music from Sousa through Copland to John Williams.
Now it's time to start gearing up for the holiday concert on December 13. But first, we are excited by a special concert playing for the Community Arts Awards at the Civic Center on December 2. More details to follow, hope to see a good turnout for both shows. Don't forget, we have a dress rehearsal this Tuesday (March 10). Please arrive and be ready to play by 7:00 PM. See you there. Welcome to the 2013-2014 season of the New Orleans Concert Band!!! We've got some exciting new shows planned and a slightly extended season as well as some new members. First, we're playing a venue new to us this Thursday September 11 from 6 - 8 pm at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. You can find us on the main floor of the Goldring Hall. We're also planning to open for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in Lafrenier Park this Spring. Plus other new stuff that's in the works. Stay tuned, and we hope to see you at our performances!
We've had a busy and productive spring. We've worked on and presented some very challenging music including Symphony No. 1 "The Lord of the Rings" by Johan de Meij, Liturgical Dances by David Holsinger and Armenian Dances by Alfred Reed.
